Our partner ministry in India recently shared the following account about Sania, who is from Odisha Province. Sania had been suffering from loose motion and other sicknesses for a year and had gone to both medical doctors as well as witch doctors, who were not able to treat him. He told our partners that he believed he was under a curse from black magic, and that he believed the curse would take his life.
Sania was invited to the home of a believer, where he heard the Gospel. Prayer was offered to him, and he accepted. He was given oil to anoint over his body, and some water to drink which was offered before the Lord.
By the grace of God, Sania was healed completely! He later shared his testimony before the local church.
It is not uncommon for people who follow Hinduism or folk Hinduism to seek healing from different gods and other sources. One of the world’s most ancient religions, Hinduism teaches that divinity comes in all shapes and sizes and that there are many different paths to realize one’s own divinity. Indeed, angelic and demonic spirits can manifest themselves in many ways, and continue to do so around the world, including in India.
However, we know from the Word that angelic spirits always point the way to the Lord Jesus while deflecting attention from themselves, and anything else is from the occult and the enemy, no matter how wonderful they may appear to be.
When people like Sania encounter the Holy Spirit in power, barriers are broken down and, in many instances, there is more of a spiritual curiosity and openness. Who is this Jesus of Nazareth, who has this superior power that none of the other spirits and gods have? This can be a key part of one’s spiritual journey to finding the blessing of the Lord.
Hebrews 1:7-9 declares the superiority of Christ over all of the angels:
And regarding the angels He says,
“He makes His angels winds,
And His ministers a flame of fire.”But regarding the Son He says,
“Your throne, God, is forever and ever,
And the scepter of righteousness is the scepter of His kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of joy above Your companions”
We pray that Sania and others like him will continue to encounter with the living God, through the Word. We are thankful that he is connected to a local church that can walk with him on the spiritual journey. Praise God that we can be encouraged by such a powerful testimony from halfway across the world!
