Witch Doctor Impacts Community After Finding Christ Through Radio Broadcasts

Despite hosting 17 million Christians nationwide, Cameroon is traditionally Muslim. In many areas, security injunctions have set heavy restrictions on church activities. In addition, strong governance is lacking in Cameroon, adding to the vulnerability faced by persecuted Christians. Christians who have converted from Islam suffer persecution across Cameroon and are at great risk if they tell anyone about their new faith, or if Bibles are discovered in their possession. Women who convert from Islam are often forced into marriages with Muslims, and there are cases of children of Christians being coerced or forced by Muslim relatives to attend Islamic classes.

For Christians in the region looking for support in the midst of persecution, we are there to offer hope though our powerful Gospel radio broadcasts reaching the Fulfulde and Bulu language speakers.

When we reached Cameroon a year ago, we knew that the Lord was calling us there for a purpose. Soon, staff on the ground shared the powerful story of a local witch doctor among the Bulu people in the southern part of Cameroon, who upon hearing the Gospel through The Tide® ministry radio broadcasts, decided to abandon witchcraft and follow Christ. To show how earnest he is in his new faith, he asked our ‘boots on the ground’ ministry team to help him burn all his idols and witchcraft paraphernalia and is now sharing the Gospel with his former customers.

The Gospel has the power to change the heart of every single person. Stories like this one renew our fervor for our mission and remind us of how vital this work is around the globe. Hearing the Good News in your own language can ignite the fire of Christ in a powerful way, and we are honored to witness the Lord work through our radio broadcasts.

The Tide is able to reach the world for Jesus because of your financial support and prayer for the ministry. We appreciate your generosity to help us further God’s Kingdom by reaching people in the heart languages they were born to speak.
