Offering Programming in New Language—Bhatri

The Tide® is embarking on a new journey of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the Bhottada people of India through radio programming in the Bhatri language.

“The Tide ministry is blessed to be able to share the hope and love of Christ with this very primitive tribal group in India,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “God opened the right doors at the right time in order for our ministry partners to reach these precious people in the language they were born to speak.”

The Bhottada tribes are primarily settled agriculturists and their major occupation is cultivation. Therefore, farming is their main source of livelihood, raising paddy rice in the wet lands of the region. This people group is also animistic, a common belief among primitive people that objects and items in nature, such as rivers, rocks and wind, are alive and have feelings and intentions. With no radio programming in the Bhatri language, The Tide ministry hopes to introduce the Bhottada people to the real and living Savior, Jesus Christ.
