New Radio Programming in Thailand Gives an Overview of the Bible

We have had a presence in Thailand for just a short time, but a new set of 33 programs has recently been recorded and will help listeners get a true overview of the Bible.

“These new 50-minute programs in the Isaan language, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand, take listeners from Creation to the Church and give a panoramic view of the Bible,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “This will be very exciting for both new and experienced believers and enable them to feel closer to God’s Word.”

The Tide partners in Thailand also began producing daily broadcasts on a popular radio station in Muang Samsip district, where several village house church groups are located. The morning programs reach the entire district of 82,000 people and into the surrounding districts as well. The ministry partners have been thankful for the 8 to 9 a.m. time slot, which is convenient for rural farmers.

“Most of them work for a few hours in the early morning, then stop for breakfast around 8 a.m. and listen to the radio,” The Tide partner reported. “Even without spreading the word much about this new program, many have already heard it. This confirmed for us that we have found a very appropriate station and time for the broadcast.”

The partners are planning more outreach for future months, including distributing fliers to notify and remind people of the broadcast, as well as posting the programs to a YouTube channel and the ministry Facebook page. Brainstorming is also in the works about shorter programs that may touch on topics such as agriculture, health, family or parenting.
