Pressing On Towards The Goal

Down through the years The Tide® ministry has progressed through various phases and stages.  Each stage was the result of a clear vision and accompanying goals.  In fact, the very initiation of this ministry in 1946 was the result of a vision to establish a local radio ministry with a goal of building up the Body of Christ in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

That was followed with a vision to expand across North America with a goal of adding more stations on which the original Gospel Tide Hour program was being aired.  Subsequent visions and their corresponding goals resulted in The Tide spreading into other countries and sharing the Gospel in multiple languages.  We currently find ourselves aggressively pursuing opportunities to add new languages to The Tide broadcast line-up.  This is a result of a strategic planning session in 2011 when The Tide Board of Directors met to focus on discerning God’s will for the future of The Tide radio ministry.  At that time, driven by a sense of urgency to make Jesus known to people around the globe who desperately need to be saved from their bondage to false teachings and pagan practices, The Tide Vision 2015 was birthed.  One of the major goals of Vision 2015 is to add heart language radio programming in 15 additional languages by the end of 2015.  This would require adding three to four new languages each year.  Almost immediately ten potential new languages were identified and others were being taken under consideration.  Right away in 2012 we were able to get two new languages on the air in Nigeria and one in Bhutan.  In subsequent years we have implemented radio programming in new languages in Nepal, Nigeria, and Albania so that as of today we have added nine of the new language programs towards our goal of 15.  Can we add six more this year to reach our goal?  While some are in process, there are still details to be worked out and arrangements to be made that make it seem unlikely we will see all six on the air before the end of the year.  With God’s intervention and your support it is possible, but we will not feel defeated if we don’t reach the Vision 2015 goal of 15 languages by the end of this year.  We are reminded in Proverbs 16:9 “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.”  Applying that principle in this situation means that decisions may be made in the boardroom, but God will direct the final outcome.  For example, several of the languages we set our sights on as part of The Tide Vision 2015 strategy haven’t yet worked out, and some that we have been able to implement recently weren’t even on our radar back in 2011!   Even though to us it may appear that the clock is running out we must remember that the goal is still before us and we serve an infinite God who is not bound by time constraints.  We also need to keep in mind that the ultimate purpose of The Tide radio ministry is not to expand in radio programming, but is to effectively tell people about Jesus in a way that leads them to acknowledge Him as their Lord and Savior and to teach them to walk daily with Him.  The number we need to focus on is not how many languages we have programming in, but rather how many people we are effectively witnessing to.  Throughout this year and in the coming years until Christ returns we will continue to press forward to tell more and more people about Jesus.  We will no doubt add more languages.  We will increase the forms of media we use to share the Gospel.  We will seek to develop new partnerships.  Above all we will strive to avoid getting caught up in the tools and mechanics of ministry, and to instead keep the true goal in focus; bringing hope to millions of people out there that don’t yet know that there is a God who has made provision for their eternal salvation and that He is worthy to be worshipped.
