Race to Share the Gospel
Each Spring, The Tide® hosts an annual 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run which includes a FREE Family Fun Day with activities and games, prizes, drawings, a picnic lunch, and more! This event is open to the public, and participation in the Race events are not necessary to attend.
Be sure to watch for details for next year’s Race, which are coming soon, or email events@thetide.org if you would like to be notified when information is available.
It’s not too late to Support The Tide work in Cameroon in 2025
This year’s in-person Race to Share the Gospel Around the World events have ended, but the Virtual Challenge goes through the end of the year! You may choose to run or walk the 13-mile virtual race path through the city streets of Douala, Cameroon from your own location.
Enjoy a unique experience as you enter your progress on your race page. Here is how it works:
- Go to your race page and enter your progress. (We recommend entering 1 mile at a time.)
- Look at your race map after each mile. (This takes about 60 seconds to refresh.)
- See your icon move around the race path.
Each mile entered will unlock prayer suggestions for real people and places along the race path, including two locations where our ‘boots on the ground’ can be found participating in ministry activities!

Goals for 2025
Our Race fundraising goal is $15,000 for ongoing ministry in 2025; as well as to begin raising support for some of our special projects. Below is a list of areas you may choose to contribute with cost breakdowns.
Airtime – covers 6 programs

1-Mile Fun Run/Walk

16-Day Virtual Challenge
This virtual event invites participants to run, walk, hike, or swim 13 miles between May 17th and June 1st to raise funds and bring awareness to the work we are doing to tell people in Cameroon the truth about Jesus.
This year Participants will virtually navigate through the streets of a city in Cameroon, with the opportunity to pray for those who haven’t yet heard the Good News of Jesus.
By entering your distances as you complete your miles, you will encounter Milestone Markers with prayer suggestions for real places as your icon travels along the race path on your progress map, allowing us to virtually flood the streets with prayer and creating a Kingdom presence among lost souls.
Our goal this year is to raise $15,000, giving nearly 1.5 million people the opportunity to access the Good News of Jesus. While it is not a requirement to participate, would you consider asking people to sponsor your miles or make a donation to help us reach this goal?
Because this is a challenge, and not a traditional race, you are able to break up the distance over the 16-day period. Doing as little as 1-mile per day will allow you to complete the challenge in the allotted time. Here are some suggestions of ways you may choose to participate:
- Find a track to run/walk (4 laps = 1 mile)
- Find a park with trails nearby
- Go shopping and track your distance for the trip
- Play three rounds of golf (avg. course = 5 miles per 18-holes)
- Swim laps in a pool (Olympic pool = 16.1 laps/mile or standard pool = 32.2 laps/mile)
All funds raised this year through the Race to Share the Gospel Around the World will benefit the work we are doing in Cameroon.

Ride for The Tide Virtual Challenge

Cheerleader
If you are unable to participate in the physical challenges, you can still be involved as a Cheerleader!
As a Cheerleader you can:
- Pray for challenge participants and the prayer suggestions at the Milestone Markers you will encounter along the virtual race path
- Spread the word about the race
- Become an individual or team fundraiser

Student Ministry Sponsor
Attention Youth Pastors!
Are you looking for a way to introduce your students to the world beyond your church building and help them understand the importance of missions, or perhaps give them an opportunity to practice what you have already taught them? If so, we invite your student group to partner with us!
This year Participants will virtually navigate through the streets of a city in Cameroon with the opportunity to pray for those who haven’t yet heard the Good News of Jesus.
Sponsorship Benefits
- Ministry recognized with logo on Race website
- A representative from The Tide will speak to your group (via live stream if out of area)
- The Youth Ministry raising the most funds (per person average) will win a free pizza party for their Race group!
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 students
- Commit to raise at least $25 average/participant (Ex: 4 students =$100 total, 6 students =$150 total, etc.)
