The Tide Forges Ahead with Plans for Church Planting in Bangladesh, Where More Than 1 Billion Reside

The Tide® global radio ministry already shares the Gospel in 23 languages, reaching people on three continents, but there is so much more to do to reach people with the message of Jesus Christ. For example, the one billion-plus people living in India speak more than 1,500 languages.

One of the 22 languages officially recognized by the government in India is Bengali, which makes up the fourth largest people group in India. While The Tide ministry has been working with the Bengali people of Northern India, there are many Bengali in neighboring Bangladesh as well who need to hear the Good News.

“One of The Tide’s goals for 2016 is to share the Bengali programs there, to change more lives with the Word of God,” said The Tide director Don Shenk. “Our vision is to support a full-time worker in Bangladesh to disciple Bengali listeners and engage in church planting. This will ultimately lead to more people accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior!”

Besides engaging in church planting in Bangladesh, Shenk recently introduced six other goals for 2016 at The Tide ministry’s annual fundraising dinners. These goals include additional programming in the Albanian language (in both Albania and Kosovo), implementing a program in Thailand, adding a disciple worker in Nepal, constructing a new studio in Zimbabwe and initiating a Telugu-language program in India.
