Share the Greatest Gift This Christmas

As Christmas shoppers scramble to find that perfect, last-minute gift to place under the tree, The Tide© global radio ministry says the greatest gift someone can give can’t be found in a shopping mall but can be shared by asking the simple question, “Have you heard what Jesus has done for you?”

“This Christmas season, we celebrate the most pivotal event in human history, the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “Throughout the year, The Tide brings the good news of Jesus to remote communities through our heart-language radio broadcasts, but at this time of year in particular, we invite all Christians to bring this same good news to their own families, friends, loved ones and neighbors by giving the gift of a simple question: ‘Have you heard what Jesus has done for you?’”

The question is part of The Tide “Have You Heard?” Campaign, which invites believers to ask ten people over the next year if they have heard what Jesus did for them. So far, more than 1,000 people have committed to the challenge.

“During the busyness of the Christmas season, it’s so easy to be focused on our to-do-lists,” Shenk continued, “but behind the smiles and decorations of Christmastime, people are silently and desperately crying for the hope, peace and rescue that only Jesus can give. We have the ability to share the lifeline of Christ with them, and that truly is the greatest gift we can give.”

During 2014, The Tide has brought this gift to even more people throughout the world, increasing to 20 the number of heart languages in which The Tide shares the message of Jesus.

And recent testimonies from listeners in Nigeria demonstrate the power of the Gospel to change hearts and transform lives. One listener wrote: “Dear presenter, thank you for the radio message on vision. My imaginations do not go wild any more. My dreams and future are for an appointed time. I will wait for it. I am greatly encouraged by these words.”

Another wrote: “Thank you brothers and sisters for bringing us this good news of God and providing our neighbourhood with (a) portable digital radio. This is a distinction of your ministry with others.”

Preparing to enter its 69th year of ministry, The Tide shares the good news of Jesus Christ across two continents through producing radio programs in heart languages—meaning programs produced on site, using indigenous speakers who tell people about Jesus in the language they were born to speak. The Tide currently broadcasts in 20 heart languages, including nine languages in Nigeria, two languages in Nepal, one language each in Zimbabwe and Bhutan and seven languages in India. The Tide plans to launch broadcasts in two additional languages in Nigeria in January 2015.
