No Signs of Stopping: The Tide® Global Radio Ministry Continues to Add New Heart Languages to Reach

In 2012, The Tide®  global radio ministry, which produces heart-language radio programs that tell people about Jesus in the language they were born to speak, set an aggressive goal to introduce programming in 15 new languages by the end of 2015.

The Tide ministry is now closing in on that goal, titled Vision 2015, having successfully added nine new languages as part of the initiative, with two additional new-language programs in development.

“There are nearly 7,000 languages spoken in the world today, and nearly one-quarter of the world’s population lives within the current range of The Tide ministry’s radio programming,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “Yet, even with today’s global connectivity, there are still thousands upon thousands of people who do not have access to radio programming that tells them the good news of Jesus in their own language. As Scripture asks, ‘How can they call on the One they have not believed in, and how can they believe in One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?’”

The Tide programming spans three continents and already shares the Gospel in 23 languages in Africa, India, Europe and Southeast Asia. New languages added as part of Vision 2015 include the Ibibio, Anaang, Tiv, Nupe, Amo and Agwagwune languages in Nigeria; the Tharu language in Nepal; the Dzongkha language in Bhutan; and Albanian, which was added most recently and reaches not only Albania but also neighboring Kosovo, where the population is mainly Albanian.

Programming is in development in Thailand and in the Telugu language in India, and several new potential languages are also being considered for strategic growth, such as those spoken in Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

In addition to producing global Gospel radio programming around the world, The Tide ministry gives radios to people in remote villages in Africa and Asia so they can listen to the programs. Thousands of generous people across the United States have enabled The Tide radio programs to thrive and expand into even more countries through the “Sponsor a Radio” program that helps further projects like The Tide ministry’s Radios for Nigeria and Radios for India. Details on The Tide “Sponsor a Radio” program can be found at http://thetide.org/radios.

The Tide ministry is also planning its annual promotional dinners for September, where attendees can learn more about its areas of service and ways to spread the Gospel to all corners of the world. Events in Pennsylvania are planned for Mechanicsburg, Chambersburg, Lancaster, Souderton and Mifflintown. The Tide ministry invites Christians to sign up for the “Have You Heard?” Campaign at http://www.thetide.org/challenge. Millions of people live their lives every day without knowing about the hope and peace of Jesus Christ. “Have You Heard?” challenges individuals to ask just 10 people throughout the course of the next year if they have heard what Jesus did for them.
