Former Atheist Nation Responds to the Gospel Message

As the U.S. and Albania recently signed a strategic partnership for counterterrorism efforts, another partnership in Albania promises to have even further-reaching impact, with results that will last into eternity.

In January of this year, The Tide® radio global radio ministry launched a new Albania-language radio program in partnership with Radio 7, a Christian network in Albania that has been on air since 2002. And already, the program, which is produced on-site, using indigenous speakers who tell people about

Jesus in the language they were born to speak, is touching hearts in Albania and neighboring Kosovo.

One listener named Shpresa wrote:
“I am sending you this letter to thank you for the encouragment you give to me and to my daughter. We are in the hospital because my daughter is sick and she needs new blood all the time. In a moment she was sleeping, and I was staying near to her trying to listen to the radio. I didn’t know about Radio 7 before. Pastor Klodi Lumci was speaking about God’s peace in our life. So I started to listen to that program. I want to thank Pastor Klodi for sharing with me the Word of the Lord and helping me to find the real peace.”

“We have been blessed by our partnership with Radio 7 in Albania,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “Regardless of where we live in the world, people everywhere want peace in their heart and soul, and this peace comes only through knowing Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. In that hospital room, one woman found that peace through a simple radio program that pointed her to Jesus.”

Two listeners were particularly drawn to the program because it is delivered by someone who speaks their language. These two listeners from Kosovo—who didn’t want to make their names public as they are Muslims—said they were first attracted to the program because the pastor was from their area and speaks very good Albanian.

They also expressed appreciation for the ability to contact the station through telephone, email or Facebook, as this is safer for them in Kosovo than risking being seen by family or friends who will reject them because of their interest in Christianity.

“From a mother listening in a hospital to two Muslims who fear the reaction of their families and friends, the Gospel is penetrating hearts, giving peace and changing lives,” Shenk continued. “We are so thankful that God is using The Tide partnership with Radio 7 to make an impact that will last for eternity.”

Now in its 69th year of ministry, The Tide global radio ministry shares the good news of Jesus Christ across three continents through producing radio programs in heart languages, meaning programs produced on-site, using indigenous speakers who tell people about Jesus in the language they were born to speak. The Tide ministry currently broadcasts in 23 heart languages, including eleven languages in Nigeria, two languages in Nepal, one language each in Zimbabwe, Bhutan and Albania/Kosovo and seven languages in India.
